Jubilee celebrations

This year, Luxembourg's National Day coincides with the 25th anniversary of the accession of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri, and to mark the occasion, the City of Luxembourg is delighted to invite you to join in the celebrations, which include a diverse programme of festivities and musical entertainment.

Festivities in the city centre

The evening's festivities will kick off at around 18:00 with an official ceremony in Place Guillaume II attended by the royal family. In the evening, a spectacular sound & light show will illuminate the facade of the Grand Ducal Palace. You will not want to miss this captivating display!

Music will fill the air all evening long as squares in the city centre come alive with concerts and musical performances.

Concert by soul-jazz singer China Moses

Biography of China Moses

China Moses captivates audiences with her brilliant stage presence and powerful vocals: her alto voice mesmerises listeners with its distinctive, rich sound. In 2019, she moved to London to immerse herself in the city's unique musical energy, and began writing her seventh album. Drawing inspiration from her roots and the work of researcher Portia K. Maultsby, she composed the blues song "It's Ok" for the guitar, an ode to self-acceptance.

Biography of China Dee Dee Bridgewater

Over the course of a multifaceted career, Grammy and Tony Award-winner Dee Dee Bridgewater has ascended to the upper echelon of vocalists, uniquely spinning standards and taking intrepid leaps of faith re-envisioning jazz classics. Fearless pioneer and keeper of tradition, the three-time Grammy-winner's most recent win was for Best Jazz Vocal Album with "Eleanora Fagan (1915-1959): To Billie With Love From Dee Dee". With a parallel career in musical theater, Bridgewater won a Tony Award for her role as Glinda in "The Wiz" (1975). A 2017 NEA Jazz Master, Bridgewater is an ASCAP Champion Awardee, Doris Duke Artist (2018), and Memphis Music Hall of Fame inductee (2019).

Choco y sus Cómplices

Biography of Choco y sus Cómplices

43-year-old Luxembourgish percussionist Eric Durrer is an ambassador of Latin music. After specialised studies in Rotterdam, he lived abroad for ten years, moving between Cuba, New York, and Miami, and performing, among others, with a Grammy-Award winning pianist Michel Camilo. Now back in the Grand Duchy for seven years, Eric Durrer strives to share his passion. He teaches at the Echternach music school, offering individual percussion lessons and ensemble classes. In 2016, Eric founded his second salsa band: Choco y sus Cómplices. A professional musician and composer, and one of the best conga players in Europe, Eric Durrer recorded the album "buscando la calma" in 2018 with 18 musicians and four singers. It is a mix of Cuban and Brazilian music, jazz, and funk – the perfect fusion for a festive occasion.

Schaman

Biography of Schaman

Presenting Jean Jacque Maillet. This young talent is one of the most promising to be discovered in Luxembourg in recent years. Still a student in the jazz department of the Luxembourg City Conservatoire, he has already firmly established his reputation as a performer, improviser and composer. He has recorded some of his works together with the Luxembourg National Jazz Orchestra (released on CD). His music is lyrical, fresh, and displays maturity a far beyond his years.

Refreshments will be on sale in Place Guillaume II, right in the heart of all the fun and celebrations.

Public toilets

Public toilets will be available at the "Klenge Knuedler", at the Place de la Constitution and at the Cercle building.

How to get there

There will be some changes to traffic and public transport! If you plan to come by car, the City recommends that you park in the following P+R facilities:

  • P+R Bouillon
  • P+R Howald, Lux-Sud (Centre douanier)
  • P+R Kockelscheuer Patinoire and P+R Stade de Luxembourg

National Day festivities

Festivities will continue on Sunday, 22 June 2025 with the traditional torchlight procession, followed by a spectacular display of fireworks, which will be set off from Pont Adolphe. For fans of electronic music and live concerts, Champ du Glacis will be transformed into a huge, open-air stage to mark the fifth edition of the City Sounds festival.

Several official events are planned throughout the day on Monday, 23 June, including a ceremony at the Philharmonie Luxembourg concert hall, a presentation of arms ceremony, a military parade, and a religious service (Te Deum). In the evening, to close the festivities to mark Luxembourg's National Day and the 25th anniversary of the accession of HRH Grand Duke Henri on a musical note, the City of Luxembourg will be hosting another series of concerts as part of the City Sounds festival.
